Monteverde is located 3 hours away from SJO and 2 hours away from LIR.Â
If driving there from LIR, route 145 is the most recommended.

A high clearance car, doesn’t have to be a 4×4, is particularly useful in Monteverde. A few roads are still unpaved, getting in and out from downtown Santa Elena.
